The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
  • Supports multiple managers and groups consisting of professional and technical employees both remotely and on-site as well as performing administrative tasks as needed for the post-of-duty.
  • Validates and inputs information to open, assign, transfer and close cases using various business unit case management automated systems such as the Examination Return Control System (ERCS), Report Generating System (RGS), Integrated Collection System (ICS), Entity Case Management System (ECMS), and Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS).
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of case controls to ensure compliance with established business unit procedures and formats. Identifies and resolves inconsistencies shown on the Related Return Report, Inventory Validation Listing, or other inventory reports. Extracts and analyzes data such as ERCS/AIMS/IDRS data to monitor statutes and alert the group manager and technical employees to ensure protection of the Government's interest

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-6 You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience providing clerical and admin support to multiple managers and groups. Experience operating a variety of software systems to prepare documents, input data, compile/ generate reports and monitor administrative controls. Experience responding/referring taxpayer/customer complaints and inquiries. Experience with using internal regulations, manuals, and directives pertaining to clerical and administrative policies and practices to perform administrative and case processing support functions. Experience applying grammar, spelling and punctuation to prepare reports and correspondence.

AND

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT (OFFICE AUTOMATION): In addition to the experience and/or education requirements identified for this position, applicants must also demonstrate a typing proficiency of 40 words per minute. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors). For this position, you may be asked to participate in a performance test, present a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying your proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test at a later step in the process.
